the keys to the golden firebird - maureen johnson
Another lovely book from Maureen. I read most of The Keys to the Golden Firebird during a (rare) bout of insomnia, and I was too busy enjoying the book to be much troubled by the cold and the night. So that was quite happy-making.
I'm particularly impressed by the way she handles describing cool-while-misfitty and believable boys - her girls are great and inspiring and smart, but I guess I take that for granted in a female writer (maybe it's ridiculous, but I'm similarly impressed by John Green's girls).
Oh, and don't read the Amazon 'review', it manages to give away everything in the book. Not very useful, I'd say.
