Really, Mole is getting to be a pathetic loser in his middle age. At certain moments a funny loser, but still: I want to shake him up and tell him that this has gone too far, time to grow up already and, you know, get a grip. It's gone quite a but beyond the believable. I think the Adrian Mole series had jumped the proverbial shark for me. And that makes me sad, since the first few books were such a fixture in my own teenage life...
