And now I will gush for a while. Gush! Gush! Magic or Madness was the most enjoyable book I've read in quite a few months. It's a delightfully original take on the now-familiar young-person-finds-out-they-have-magic-powers theme, set in Sydney and New York, chock-full of great Australian words, sympathetic non-schematic characters and intelligent plotting.
It's real. I read it in under 24 hours. Justine is smart and sensible and I like her style enormously, and I think she deserves to do at least as well as that lady who thought up Harry Potter. Because I think this is better than good old Harry.
