flawless consulting - peter block
My job is only partially consulting, but I've been running into, let's say, some challenges in the interpersonal persuasion department, and I thought this book would help. And it did.
Flawless Consulting is a very good book on what is and isn't part of the consultant's job, what to look for in the contracting phase and how to deal with resistance. Not that I know the answer now, of course, but I gained some good checklists and some good ideas. Plus many chapters I will probably be revisiting.
Best idea gleaned: Don't take it personally. You're not allowed to take any feedback personally, at least not before 6 p.m. Afterwards you can moan all you want, but not on the job. Ha!
