I received a signed first edition from the author herself, so don't expect an impartial assessment from me (I even knit her new baby a hat, for Pete's sake, which should tell you something about how much I like her (Ahem. 2003 Was my year of fangirlism, apparently)). But I can only be honest and tell you that I loved Death Gets a Time-Out. Smart and witty and fast (I read it in a day and a half, and those were pretty activity-filled days), with a twist I did not see coming, which is good.

The heroine, Juliet, is delightfully messy (she makes me feel so good about myself for being such a well-organised mother), smart and brave, even if she is also just a little bit stupid for putting her two children into two different pre-schools. And I would read ten more books about her, because I love having her around. So there. Hang impartiality.

I have absolutely no idea how the title fits the book, though. I expect that it has something to do with writing a series under contract.
